With all due respect to Collin Klein, Manti Te'o and Braxton Miller, Texas A & M quart Johnny Manziel just won the Heisman Trophy. All Alabama Crimson Tide with the rest of the country could, sit, watch and evaluate defender brilliant talent. Aggies hit Crimson Tide on Saturday night, dramatically, leaving a 29-24 victory. If this is not the first ball defender for a beginner, it was his best performance of the season in the circumstances, and vaulted him to the top of the Heisman race.
Manziel finished the game 24-31 for 253 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball 18 times for 92 yards. He spent most of the day leading pass Alabama escapes and keep plays alive feet. Very few defenders could do what he did on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.
The most dramatic of all the parts came in the middle of the fourth quarter, when he scrambled then Malcome Kennedy with a touchdown of 24 yards to put the Aggies 29-17.
We spoke to the leading party Manziel not do much against top-level competition, but it has certainly proven on the road in a very difficult environment.Over nearly two seasons, the Alabama defense was the best unit in the country. While beating Alabama does not automatically account Heisman for the season Manziel was, it was all that was needed to put at the head of the race.
Now it is past 18 touchdowns this season with just six interceptions. In addition, he rushed over 1000 yards and 15 scores.
This bright room in a conference, but playing against top-notch SEC defense, it is difficult to argue that nothing but Manziel Heisman favorite.
There is still a long way, but the rest of the opponents on the Texas A & M schedule (Sam Houston State and Missouri) Manziel must set up a huge number of the last two games of the season. If he does, Heisman for adoption.
